Format
The sampling units in this study are individual trees. The predictor variable is genotype. The predictor variable is not manipulated, simply observed. Genotype is a categorical variable. The response variables are cone survival and seed yields.
Data will be collected and recorded as shown in Table 1.

Table 1. Example of simplified data table for cone survival and seed yield for spruce trees in three B.C. orchards. Each tree has a unique identification number that includes what orchard it is in, its genotype, and its location in the orchard. The year the data was collected is listed next to the initial and final cone counts followed by the survival rate and seed yield for each tree.
